Ukrainian Banks: a Guide for Corporate and Private Clients
The research came out of the press at the end of May. Unique analytical report, about 100 pages long, contains information and analytical materials about the biggest banks of Ukraine. It will be useful for making decisions by large corporate clients of banks, private investors, and representatives of small and medium business. The organizer of the project is DAGDA LLC. Our Manual is oriented, primarily, on those, who regularly use banking services. The crisis of 2008-2009 in Ukrainian banking system has shown that there are some banks able to survive and fulfil their obligations to a client in time. After reading our Manual you will be aware of most important events in the banking industry and will be able to estimate the ability of a selected bank to survive the crisis.
Analytical report consists of two parts.
The first part is devoted to macroeconomic situation in Ukraine and its influence on the national market of banking services. The authors of the research analyze basic risks involved in using the services of Ukrainian banks. Considerable part of this section is devoted to the analysis of foreign banks’ expansion into Ukrainian market of banking services; the authors give independent estimate of such expansion and analyze foreign banks’ mistakes when developing their “projects” in Ukraine. The first section of the research is followed by recommendations for investors how to choose a bank-partner, the type of investment, the time horizon of deposits and the interest regime.
The second part of the research is devoted directly to banks and contains the analysis of the activity of TOP-50 Ukrainian banks, ranked by their assets (without bad banks as of 02.03.2008). There are analyses of banking work’s indicators during the last 5 years, independent estimate of bank investors’ ability to have outside support, the most significant events in bank’s life during last 3 years. In case if the shareholder of the Ukrainian bank is a foreign bank holding, individual analysis of situation in mother bank during last 3 years is given.
